Knocked a tire off its bead for the first time

Post by Wes » 04 Sep 2018, 7:58 pm

I feel like this four wheel driving milestone for me... knocked my first tire off its bead yesterday.

What a bastard to change the wheel in the mud, but at the same time kind of happy with my efforts

Good work...!!

Hope it never happens to me...that would take up too much shooting time.

Depending how bad you rolled it off the bead, its usually quicker and easier to get it back on rather then changing it

Get yerself a decent air compressor and tank that'll give enough initial rush of air to pop it back on again.
Much easier than changing the bloody wheel.

If you don't have a decent air compressor that'll do the job (as above) get some of that grey foam (from Cunnings) that is normally used to wrap around pipes and posts before the concrete is poured.,,,,, and wedge it in the gap between the rim and the bead.
It'll seal it enough so an ordinary (slow) air compressor will then pump up the tyre.

Done that many times in earlier years before I made sure I had a good air compressor on board at all times.

It means the difference btween being bogged or getting going again.
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
And,,,,It's been proven,,,,, the most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were all canines.
Whilst in most cases ignorance should be excused,,,,,,, stupididty simply cannot.

Great fun changing them in the mud ay! I did mine on the Border track a couple of years ago had that much mud in it there was no chance of re- seating it and the bead getting a seal
Just the necessity

If you cant get it back on bead with air compressor the old fire trick can work well, but can be dangerous.
