ADI load data

Post by cruze82 » 09 Jan 2014, 11:04 am

hi guys I’m new to the forum and have joined to get some Aussie feed back

as my local supplier has come into hard times to get his hands on reloader 15 i have had to switch to ADI powders

I’m putting my feelers out there to see if any shooters out there have found a good accuracy node with AR2208

so far my combo is Winchester brass cci br2 primers for a Remington 700 SPS varmint 26" barrel .308 calibre set in an accuracy international stock with Bushnell 4.5 x 30 x 50 tactical

any help would be great

Welcome to the forum cruze.

I'm using ADI 2208 for my .308 (and 2209 for my .243) both with good results.

I have some group photos at home, will have to post for you later. Here is one from an earlier thread though.

Image

Forget the group on the left, wrong powder load for that bullet.

Group on the right is 5 shots with 2208 and 150gr Sierra Pro-Hunters.

Ah!

I found the picture on my phone with the right charge for the SST's.

I'll post it tonight, but FYI I shot a 0.76" group with 150gr SST's with 46gr 2208.

Haven't tried 45.9 or 46.1 grain powder charges yet either so may still get some more accuracy yet.

The above is on a stock Ruger Hawkeye.

Also, just FYI shooting 0.6" - 0.7" groups with my .243 with 87gr pills and 2209 powder. So another good results with ADI powder there.

Stock Ruger Hawkeye again for the .243.

Hey Cruze,

Welcome to the forum.

I've got the SPS Tactical too. I'm still tuning my loads but am currently working with 155gr and 168gr Nosler Custom Competion bullets and AR2208. These are also HPBT if you're not familiar with them.

With the 155gr the best group I've got is .9" and with the 168gr I've got a .7" group. Still working on it too so hoping to improve.

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the forum mate.

Can't help with your rifle specifically as I don't have one, but there is no shortage of people shooting 308/AR2208 and getting top accuracy.

155gr - 180gr is a real popular weight range for bullets for target shooting too (which is what you're doing with that rifle I assume?).

I'd go a head and give 2208 a try, I'm sure you'll do all right.

I'm also using the Nosler Custom Comps.

Do you have the load work up for the 168 grains?

A tiny bit off topic but the Rem 700 VTR, what a great looking gun!

I've got one on order in .243 for my varmint gun.

That barrel is something else, I'll give it that.

More than a few people have bought one based on that alone I reckon.

Welcome Cruze,

Don't have the load data for it sorry, but can share that a mate of mine with the Ruger Scout is using 2208 for his hand loads with Hornady pills and is getting back on an inch groups off the bench.

Can't remember the exact bullet, sorry, but that's pretty good for the Scout from what I read.

Hey mate. If you want another powder to look at try AR2206H. I'm using 168gr Custom Comps and frequently shoot half to three quarter MOA groups using this powder. I have a Remington Varmint Sf that has a 26" barrel so should be reasonably similar to your rifle. I found 42gr of 2206H worked well

ADI powders

Post by Aster » 10 Jan 2014, 12:58 pm

There is nothing wrong with ADI load data IMO.

There is a little bit of bad rep circulating about it in certain circles but I think that's largely due to the Nick Harvey fanboys who just have to shoot the fastest loads they can find.

(Nothing against Nick Harvey, just an example...)
See you on the firing line.

Here is that group with Hornady SST's that I mentioned Cruze.

That 0.76" is a 5 shot group. 1 flyer on the bottom left there...

Not on the bullseye because I was testing a bunch of loads and not bothered. The grouping is very good though as you can see.

This was with AR2208 again, 46gr of powder.
