Requested application on 29th April
Received application on 25th May
Posted application back on 25th May (express post)
Online check license status showed "Application Date" as 29th May. 28 day cooling off period starts from this day
Posted PTAs on 30th May (express post)
PTAs appeared on online status on 4th June saying "PTA Application being processed by Firearms Registry" but cooling off period wont start til license is valid
License status changed to "NEW APP REFERRED TO SERVICE NSW FOR ISSUE" on 7th July
License status changed to "VALID" 17th July

Havn't received license card yet as its only been a couple of days
Spoke to Firearms Registry and was confirmed the PTAs i lodged on 4th June don't start the cooling off period until the applicant has a "Valid" license so my PTA 28 day cooling off period plus processing time starts from now.

11 and a half weeks waiting so far with 6 - 8 weeks to go. Getting there.

License card turned up in the mail today and Firearms Registry has changed my "Application date" on my PTAs from 4th June to 13th July so my cooling off period started on the 13th July.

So after 12 weeks and 2 days from the time i requested the application forms be sent to me i'm finally licensed!!!! :drinks:

now its time to spend some more money..... :D

Yesterday marked the 14 weeks waiting mark. My 28 day cooling off period for my PTAs finishes on Friday so then its just the processing and postage wait times after that. Slowly getting there.

PTAs marked as "issued" today so i should have them in the post in next 7-10 days. Super keen and looking forward to finally picking up the Marlin Xt22sr and Howa 1500 .223 and getting them to the range.

The .223 i brought is at Horsley Park gun shop and St Mary indoor range is only 15 mins from there so ill go straight to that range after picking that one up. Can't wait.

Tomorrow marks 17 weeks total waiting time. Waiting on the PTAs to arrive. They are issued and apparently they were posted on Monday 13th and all other mail i have received from them arrived in 4 days. Their website says "allow 7 - 10 working days to receive a issues PTA in the post". Today is working day 10 and i was disappointed to see the postie didn't have my PTAs yet again. Starting to wonder if they are lost in the post......

2freeq,

they wont be lost. The NSW registry is the most incompetent government organisation i have ever dealt with. i used to have highly protected govt clearance and have dealt with a lot of government agencies.

The NSW far only print on mondays as it is outsourced, if for what ever reason they miss that window then it waits a week.. This is after it has been miss filed 3 times and just sat on because "we are too busy"

Cheers mate, Fingers crossed it comes this week. I went to the St Marys indoor range on Friday night and hired one of their .22s so i got a shoot this weekend after all. First time firing a rifle so i enjoyed every second of it.
