Got my two PTA's today, and i applied for them a bit more than a month ago (4th of july, funny that too). Those were my first pta's, so i had to wait 28 days... so pretty good i reckon. Except that i called the gunshop and my savage mkII isnt here yet... oh well, back to waiting...

I got my licence on 14 july by mail. applied on 31 march. took about 15 weeks.

Thats a fair wait. Did you apply at the Cop station or online?

Yes I know but 15 weeks seems excessively long for 2 years ago since firearm license applications have increased by 37% in the last 12 months alone and Ive been told 12 weeks before mine comes through. It takes longer if you apply in person at the cop shop because weapons licensing deal with the online apps first before touching hard copy apps, hence the reason for my question. I applied online so am curious to see if it takes the 12 weeks they estimate.

Just recently went for a PTA myself. 28 day wait period came and went, at about the 34 day mark I phoned QWL and politely asked the status of my PTAs. Approval email came that same day and got them in the mail 3-4 days later.

All you guys are crazy. Why are you waiting for Old el Posto when they'll fax it to the dealer direct. You gotta call before you get the email saying they've issued it though...

My last PTA for a 308 took around 5 business days from application online to arriving in my mail box, this was about 2 weeks ago.

So i applied for licence and 2 ptas on the 22nd of december 2016 its 1st feb and both ptas and my licence have all been approved. So it took a little over 5 weeks. Licence approved on 27th jan and ptas on 1st feb. Should have them in the mail soon.

Thats awesome. I applied on 20 November 2016 and still waiting. Should be any day now though. Both PTA's cleared.

Both my PTA's have taken 24hrs! The PTA for my first handgun was approved in 24hrs but I then had to wait the month as it was my first Cat H firearm. I recently bought my second handgun, a .22 and it also took 24hrs. Maybe I'm just lucky!

i tell ya's, i looked up to see if the sky was falling, i looked up and down the street to see if jesus was walking past on his second coming, i looked down to see if hell opened a ice skatting rink ! i put in a PTA on friday afternoon , checked my emails at 9:30 teusday morning , in my inbox "permit to acquire application approval " WTF ?!>?! HAS THE NRA TAKEN OVER WEAPONS LISCENSING IN QLD ? on average i've had to wait two to three weeks ! a mate of mine put in a PTA on a P14 the other week and had his turnaround in three days. thought it was a fluke. anyone else got results like this ?

7:35pm Sunday night 29th July email of confirmed submission of PTA application.

2:33pm Wednesday 1st August email of approval of PTA submission.

At first I thought there must have been a problem. But no. I must say a big thank you to QLD WLB. Job well done guys.

With not a single change to my address, reasons for need, conditions, license, or anything else that I can think of,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

it took 3 months, and a phone call to my local MP to get approval for a .22rf/.410g u/o combo.

During the wait I rang WLB to inquire why it was taking so long on a number of occasions.

The following reasons (in order) were expressed to me;

1) Your PTA is waiting to be approved by the end of the week,
2) Your PTA has been processed and awaits final approval,
3) Your PTA will be addressed in the next day or so, keep an eye on your mailbox for the approval,
4) Every application is treated case by case,
5) We are still waiting on documents from another agency, ( ) ,,,,,,,,, FBI maybe ?

6) I rang my local MP asking if he could look into this for me.

7) Email recieved advising that my PTA has been approved.

Sounds like the replies I got last year when they wacked a 28 day hold on one of my pta's.

Applied for 308 on saturday and got approved on tuesday. Quickest I've had. Rest of them usually 2 weeks.

I'm thinking that they must have had a bit of a tune up.
Approvals are now (almost) within the day, which is as the Regulations require.
Maybe they've got a few staff dedicated to a quick turnaround as soon as they come in, and the rest of the staff are playing catchup with the "old" applications?
If it continues as it now is, we should be thankful.

I put in a PTA Friday afternoon and had the confirmation Monday morning. Thats the quickest one iv ever had!
