How do gun stores transport stuff for delivery orders

Post by Tiiger » 07 Sep 2013, 10:21 am

Given all the hoops Aussies are supposed to jump through for transporting their rifles - especially in some stricter states - I'm curious how gun stores and dealers do shipping for delivers...

Obviously there not taking the bolts out or using rifle action padlocks etc. etc.

Just curious...

Pretty sure it's just registered post and suitable courier...

Some couriers won't do it I believe, but other will I think? I think it depends on policies and insurance and stuff...

Pretty sure they can only send like this from suppliers/dealers and not to shooters.

I think...

They transport them in Optimus Prime's truck form with the team from NEST as armed guards.

Pretty sure they're are arrangements in place with Aus Post that they can just ship them registered post.

From memory there is something in the dangerous goods declaration rules which allows them to send from one licensed dealer to another.

Or importers to dealers etc.
Reach out and touch...

I know just from over hearing conversations at one of my local gun stores and from talking about ordering stuff in with the staff there that they receive their stock (including rifles) as freight or courier deliveries depending on the supplier.

I don't know if there are any special conditions that go with the deliveries, but they're just coming with regular delivery guys AFAIK.
