Waiting on Card

So how many comps did you have when you put in your application? Did you already have a Cat A and B?

At the club I shoot at there seems to be a shorter waiting period for people who have more comps on their cards. People with the minimum number are waiting the longest.

A newish member at my club has been waiting nearly five months. He rang a week or so ago and was told new application waiting times are in the mid twenty weeks.

Whether or not you hold an A/B license already makes no difference.

Amount of comps also makes no difference in my club's experience. As long as there are three or more within six months WLB don't care.

Weapons are simply understaffed for the amount of license applications, renewals and PTAs they are receiving.

Interesting, spoke to a couple of new license holders mid week and they both received their cat H in under 4 weeks. As both were Cat A/B holders who already had long arms the 28 day waiting period was waived, so they had their cards and guns within the 28 day period.

In terms of staff at weapons licensing being short on the ground, I'm sure this is the case. My last PTA for a cat H was a two week turn around while previously I have had them in a couple of days.

That said, they are still considering my .338LM Cat B PTA. Perhaps I provided too much supporting info ;-)

I have cat A/B

Had around 6 shoots on my card. Had some more on 2nd card but didn't submit it.

Ironically i got a cat a pta approved in 2 days at start of year when others were taking 2 weeks.

I agree its likely just staffing issues they didn't question me at all around number of shoots or my cat h pta.

Still waiting on plastic thou

Cat H licence and PTA for my wife and I was 15 weeks to the day, we both had 19 shoots on our card and both of us have A/B.
Long wait, but any interaction with weapons licencing during the process has been great, they even helped us out with changing the dealer as Gunworld closed.
I understand some have issues with weapons licencing, but I can only offer a positive report with the staff we have spoken to.

Oh yeah, I'd better give them a buzz!
I went to call right on 12 weeks but the voice recorded message kinda made me concede and hang up.

So I ended up calling up yesterday at about 9:30am.
Bloke was super understanding and said he'd get it sorted for me asap.
Got the ID check email today and just dropped into the station and did it.
Hopefully the rest of the process is a bit quicker!

I had previously called up on a Tuesday and the lady couldn't tell me much but told me that the proper new applications people only answer calls on a Thursday. Called back Thursday and he was really helpful.
