No registration paperwork for rifle from store?

Post by inervate » 13 Jul 2013, 5:06 pm

Hi,

I picked up my first rifle a week or so ago. It's just dawned on me that when I left the gun shop I didn't get given any paperwork for the rifle?

I thought I was supposed to get some registration paperwork with it?

The store did the permit paperwork on the computer for me, so I didn't mail anything off like I could have.

Was I supposed to get something for my registration records? Or is it cool because it was done on the internet?

Thanks.

Don't worry about it mate.

The store does the application etc. but the registration paperwork itself will be handled by your registry.

Normally takes 2-3 weeks from pick-up.

It's the same whether buy a new FA through the paperwork application system or online.

Pick up the FA from the dealer and the paperwork comes direct from the VIC Firearms Registry 2-3 weeks later.

Nothing to worry about.

It should arrive ages before you'd be likely to have an inspection. You'll have the paperwork well before anyone from the police comes knocking to check out your security and gear.

Normal. You gotta wait for the registry to twiddle their thumb for 3 weeks before they print out a firearms certificate for you
