It'll be 28 working days most likely ( possibly and a bit)
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

28 days plus postage each way.

The postage recently seems to have added some signifcant wait times. I don't know for sure, but I'm suspicious that Australia post isn't delivering standard post anywhere like it used to. Strange... I'm paying almost 50% extra for the stamps too...

You can check the status with the link below. I've noticed an increase in processing times recently, what used to take 1 week now takes 2 and what used to be 28 days in more like 42. I've been waiting just over 10 weeks now for a commissioners permit and still no sign of when it'll arrive. Be patient, it'll happen and think of the waiting as an opportunity to save more money to buy something better then originally planed or to learn a bit more.

An update and apologies for the side track....

My commissioner's permit arrived the day after I posted about it being 10 weeks since application. Submitted some other pistol PTA's on the 27/5, got a please explain from the Registry on the 9/6. I emailed them my response the same day and status was updated overnight to "PTA Issued" 10/6 so hopefully in the mailbox this week. I also lodged 5 PTA's for High Cal pistol so that's a 28 day minimum wait and probably another please explain from the Registry. I was surprised to get the letter from the Registry asking to clarify "Good reason" under section 31 (3) C of the 1996 Firearms Act. I see it as a good thing that they flagged my applications for further clarification as we don't want firearms in the wrong hands, it can only hurt us.

Now.....Where can I buy a 45 INCH pistol ? :D

Does the 28 days on the firearms license applications mean 28 working days so instead of it sounding like 4 weeks it's something more LIEK 6 weeks

As far as I'm aware it's simply 28 days.
It's more a cooling off period, not a processing period.
