How long after this licence status is displayed on NSW firearms website will photo advice be sent out?

Once my licence was approved by the police the form got to me in 3-4 days from memory.
I then went took it to my local RMS (RTA is dead), paid money, had pic taken, the card had to be posted out which was about another 4-5 days.

Not sure what the not authorised bit is??

I think I got my license there and then from the RMS (maybe I'm confused with my drivers license on that) but I'm sure I got it there and then :unknown:

Anyway I'm waiting on a PTA to come for the Tikkler - I'm not watching the letter box, it will get here when it gets here, then I've got a 2hr drive to pick the bastard up.

bigfellascott, the larger RMS print your licence I think. I went in after 5pm which may have changed things.
They printed my drivers licence on the spot previously.

BFS in the interest of stopping corruption and printing fake licenses the printing of photo licenses has been centralised and taken out of the hands of RMS offices

Some of the larger RMS offices still print licences on the spot, I know St Mary's RMS does as I have one done there recently. As others said, it's a 3-5 day wait to get the photo advice once the online status changes to issued. The "Not Authorised" bit means that you have a license but cannot purchase / use firearms till it's issued by the RMS as they need to verify your ID.
My advice is, get some PTA forms ready to post the day you get your licence as you're up for a minimum of 4-6 weeks to get the first ones back. Make sure to get at least 1 Cat A and 1 Cat B, the PTA is valid for 3 months so even if you don't have something in mind today at least you have a PTA and don't have to wait if you find something.
How's my posting?

I did my photo on Thursday at a rural RMS agency. This morning my status on the registry page shows "valid". So I can submit pta now even though my actual licence isn't received yet :). Though that begs a question, can I be in possession of a firearm b4 the actual licence arrives?

It took about a week to get the advice notice in the mail from when I first noticed the status on the registry page.

Alby,
It will take you 28 days + mail time to get the PTA so it won't be an issue.
Sending your PTA in as soon as you get the advice notice s a good way to cut off a few days on the pta.

What gun(s) are you getting first?

I sent my PTA off before I received the plastic card, which took close to 10 days (God damn RMS). There's a mandatory waiting period of 28 days before the PTA is issued... so you can't get hold of a firearm until then.

You will receive a notification from the RTA soon.

Now here's the bitch.... all this waiitng.. well they have added another layer. Unless you can go to an actual RTA, then service NSW branches don't print licences. So there's another 5 day wait!
