Semi auto license for visiting property?

Post by woopwoop » 20 Nov 2013, 3:23 pm

My uncle has a farming property in Victoria here, he doesn't have his Cat C license yet but would be eligible for one.

My question is, could I get a Cat C license also to shoot on his property for pest control reasons?

I don't live there, but as explained we're family and I would be helping in to control pest on a legitimate property.

Is that valid enough reason for a semi-auto?

You would need to submit an application letter stating the resons you need to use an class c, ie perhaps all other means of pest controll has had little impact ( and state those methods and even back them with documentation such as baiting programs ) and your uncle requires the help of a good shooter with the appropiate choice of rifle ( explain why a semi auto would be needed ) If you could pull it off, the rifle would have to be kept at the propety.
Gun control requires concentration and a steady hand

You could always register a business name,.........................

'woopwoop pest control' then you're a professional shooter.

Don't laugh.

It can't be that easy?
Dear Santa,
Please bring me a Desert Tactical Arms SRS-A1 Rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum.
I'll be good with it, I promise!

I think you'd be skirting boundaries here...

I'm pretty sure when applying for Cat C there are a whole bunch of specifics, such as

The commercial property where it's to be used.
The specific person(s) using it.
Their involvement with the property in a commercial/primary production sense., e.g. owner, employee, etc.

I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt that having the odd shoot at a relatives property will cut it as a "genuine reason".
