License Expired

Post by JamesJimbo » 18 Dec 2016, 10:47 am

Hi. My license expired beginning of Jan last year. Too late to not have to sit the safety course again?

The application form in Vic doesnt seem to have a check box for old licenses. I dont want to have to prove 100 points again....

Anyone done this before?

G'day JamesJimbo,
Unless you had a renewal application in before the expiry of your licence, then the very day after it expired LRD consider you to be unlicenced. From that point, you will be treated as a new applicant and will have to start from the beginning, and unless you can get an exemption from LRD that includes re-sitting the safety course. Your only hope is their current incompetence, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you, Cheers.

Too bad. You let it expire, thats the price you pay. You will be applying as an unlicenced person. That means full safety course, application, waiting periods, ID checks etc.

No he certainly didn't.

However instead of pussy footing around i just said it straight up how it is. He said he didnt want to re-do certain bits, im just saying that weapons licencing dont care what the history is.

Thanks for your responses. I found buried on the vic police website that "if license is expired, but less than 12 months, you need to apply for a renewal, but dont need to submit 100 points ID or take the safety course". I just submitted yesterday, so should be ok. I'll find out in the new year I think.

I dont own any guns, so that side of things is ok.
