Yeah, unless you are travelling in from another state. The crap we had to go through to travel to W.A to shoot our Nationals was a f^^king joke. Especially the question on the INTERSTATE VISITORS PERMIT which asked "Have you ever resided outside of W.A?" I had to resist the urge to write something along the lines of, "you're f**king joking right? Have you even read your own form? I'll give you a clue, it's in the title at the top of the page." The only state in Australia that does not recognize other state licences, "National Firearms Laws" be f**cked. :evil:
Then as part of our "permit" we had to list the amount of ammo we were bringing in, justify that amount, and then promise to take any unused ammo and ALL empty brass, including .22 RF, home with us. And they reckon NSW is the "Nanny State".

Sorry , rant over. Time for a beer. :drinks:

I'm a reptile keeper/breeder, pythons in particular, and the WA guys (reptile keepers)are getting royally screwed with ridiculous laws and and fees also......lets not mention their fishing laws :thumbsdown:

Wouldn't live there if you paid me, sounds hard enough just to visit.....shame, its such a beautiful place...

There are other threads on DG Act/regs, that cover ammo (explosives) and the quants you can store, classes of storage etc

20kg propellant
40,000 rounds
10,000 primers

above which the additional DG licensing and storage requirements kick in...

The storage of propellant etc has always been a known given.

But as mentioned there are no current limits on the amount of ammunition WA shooters can purchase under the Firearms Act or Regulations and that is what BluEsky queried as a result of the NFA's ammo limit proposal.

In addition, the WA Dangerous Goods Safety Act specifies the following so I'd be interested to note legislation that says otherwise, although having 40,000 rounds would be a hoot :D;

Term - ammunition means any cartridge or shell for a gun;

Schedule 6
5. Ammunition, ........................
(1) A person may store any quantity of ammunition at any place.

Schedule 7
5. Ammunition, ............................
(1) A person may transport any quantity of ammunition.

Schedule 9
5. Ammunition
(1) A person may use ammunition if authorised under the Firearms Act 1973 to do so.

Theyre DG laws in VIC,

Interesting "any quantity" in WA..... you just cant have the guns... :lol:

Note these are storage rules, not purchasing rules.... if you go the your local gun retailer and order 500 rounds of 308win or 223rem.... I'm pretty sure you'd be flagged.... maybe even lesser quantities.

I would like to understand the point I have missed.We can obtain any firearm we wish too and buy large amounts of ammo for said firearm.what is the big deal everone is complaining about.I have applied to do pest management in state forests here in W.A.The local SFFP are campaigning to open up state forests for hunting like the rest of Australia.Its all good

I'm still here. I decided to a back away as some of the responses were going off at a tangent.

Yes, there were a series of omissions but a number of people, who I will not name, believe they were not mistakes.
In my opinion this was definitely trying it on at a high level.

In the last week I have talked to PB and JW.
Yes PB can get 'motivated' when he is peeved but both gentleman did a lot of work in averting a truely bad situation for us.

Big yes they did a lot of good work.

I see the sffp, ssaa and suq (is that just the worst name ever "suck") are claiming credit in some form.

There are some on this forum who have their tin foil hats well and truly strapped on and others who use every opportunity to belittle someone who does not agree with them and those people need to take a break.

Time is right to pressure the politicians, annoy them and to put pressure on the ssaa, sffp etc to be publicly lobbying.

The governments are on the nose all around Australia, this is how we get things back, if only we could agree on what we want back.
