swapping or adding another purpose of use

Questions about South Australian gun and ammunition laws. S.A. Firearms Act 2015.

swapping or adding another purpose of use

Post by gmckay » 29 Nov 2013, 11:12 am

I have a SA A/B licence with purpose of use 5 (primary production).
I would like to shoot foxes and rabbits on a nearby property but need to upgrade my licence to include Hunting.

How do I go about this? Is it difficult?

Hey mate,

Yes you can amend your license.

As you've already got your license you might be able to do it over the phone?

South Australia Firearms Branch
Phone: (08) 7322 3346
Email: SAPOL.firearmsbranch@police.sa.gov.au

Worse case you'll just have to submit amended paperwork and wait a few weeks for an update.

I updated mine from target shooting to include hunting.

Just mailed in the updated form, no worries.

When I got my .243 the serial was wrong on the PTA.

I called up and they just corrected it over the phone.

Still went back to the store and updated it on their books and all that, but they were plenty helpful over the phone. Hopefully SA Pol are the same for you.

Does anyone know the QLD regs here. I have a license with the reason being for target shooting. i would like to do a spot of hunting. In QLD do I need to get it added to my licence?

Cheers

If you look on your license though there are 'conditions' specified. These are the reasons you have for shooting and what/where you're allowed to do it.

No idea what the specific codes for each thing are though sorry... I did the official SSAA reason of "Sports & Target Shooting and Recreation & Hunting" on my application so not sure which code references which activity.

Just give them a call, they'll tell you and hopefully just update it over the phone if required.
