Hi guys, does anyone know the current turn around time in WA for an addition to firearms licence?

Hahaha you've almost convinced me.
I can understand the wait for a first firearm just to keep them happy, but as a licensed firearm owner I don't see why getting another added to my lic should take any longer than a week max

Hahaha have you got bunk beds? I'm on my way.
Seriously, if Vic has it like this I don't see why we all can't have the same process. Less headaches for everyone. But I suppose that's too rational...

Yeah Vic has it good, I remember when I went to purchase my .22 last year, I filled out the form for the pta in the gun store, walked down the road to KFC, ate. By the time I walked back everything was approved and I could take the rifle home with me.

Victoria sounds like they're a bit more sensible with it all.

Yep I will do. Being over Easter and Anzac Day I'm betting it's going to be slower than usual.

Just an update, checked the progress online today and it's approved. So that's 25 days so far for additional firearm. Hopefully get it in the mail next week so I can plink on the weekend.

Do the other states use the postal service for applications. It sounds like you go direct to the lic centre,I used to do same day lic when I worked in the centre of Bunbury I could go to LGS in the main st at lunch time pay for what I needed drop of the permit at police station and pick it up when I knocked of at 4.00PM.Now the post do it it is about 2-3 weeks turnaround.

Electronic here. Takes just minutes to send in and get approval back.

I didn't think you needed a reason for Cat A?

Just went through the Application procces and genuine reason is needed regardless. The act also requires that a person have both a genuine reason and a genuine need to possess a firearm.

Isn't that a reason? "To have an air rifle". I would have thought it's a good reason. ...because stuff.

...or, incase the shooter loses his sh*t. But not too much sh*t. Just a little sh*t. Like you have a cat C semi auto shotty and a box full of slugs, and your teenage daughter just got home from the "prom night" at 3am missing a bra. But not undies. So, in that case, wouldn't it be better to have an air rifle as well as a heavy lead dispenser? I would have thought that's a solid reason.

Yer each time you have to have a new reason and provide a new property letter.
I've heard of guys getting knocked back if their reason is worded the same as a previous reason.
It's all a bit of a joke, the reason why it took 25 days for approval is no one looked at it until today I'm sure.

My last approval took a full 4 weeks from the time I lodged it to the time the approval arrived in my letter box.

But previous to that it took only 13 days

Also I recently submited an application for a new firearm and the serviceability letter had it as a cat A when I know fore sure it was a Cat B, I wonder If this is going to cause a problem

Funny you say that, I bought an Adler in march which is now cat B but my licence shows it as cat A, though the serviceability cert said cat B aswell.

It seems the speed of additionals is just a lucky dip in the WA

I'm sure they'll call if there is a problem. A mate of mine had his last name misspelled on his serviceability cert by the gun shop and licencing contacted him and sorted it over the phone. Though it was for a original licence and it took about 4 months all up...

Updated licence arrived in the mail today, so 33 days all up for additional. Glad to be able to pick up my new rifle, seemed like it was going on forever.

3 weeks isn't too bad, I've got a centrefire about 2 weeks in ATM.
Weird they're telling us lever shotguns are Cat B but we've got licences showing Cat A....
