PTA, Does CAT A/B matter if calibre is specified?

Post by elogov1 » 14 Jun 2017, 6:10 pm

Hi all, Long time reader first time posting,

I've been in trap for a while just put through a PTA for a new beretta 12g O/U anyway

Upon filing the PTA i've put Break Action" 12G & nominated for it in cat B?,

should I do up another PTA considering it would fall under Cat A I think?.
Not wanting to wait a month & having the PTA not usable because its a lesser category or something.

Cheers & Happy hunting

Welcome mate
Which state are ya in?
In qld you can change the info with a call to firearm branch or if buying at a store the seller should be able to change it with no problems.

When I bought my last gun I found the serial number on my PTA was wrong when I arrived at the police station. The officer just added a note to my PTA correcting the serial number and said I was good to go. I imagine they'd have no issue correcting an PTA for a lower firearms class.

In Qld. a shotgun, other than a pump action or self loading shotgun is Cat A.

Yeah call and get it fixed.

For future reference though you did just pick the wrong option unfortunately.

The categories don't get you that and everything below it.

Need to write what it is specifically.
