Inert imports

Post by mar6874 » 21 Jul 2017, 6:17 am

Hi guys,

Does anybody know what the laws are, or where I can read them in an easy to understand format, on the importation of inert, deactivated rifles?
Just to be clear I am looking at old musket type rifles from the 1800's which I would like to frame, so nothing like modern arms.

Any advice and or links would be most welcome.

Oh, and I'm located in WA so they may consider a musket to be an assault rifle with the out dated laws here!

Thanks!

G'day mar6874,
The Feds consider all firearms, real, de-activated, replica and even most toys, to be the same for import purposes. You will need an import permit B709 and arrange for a gundealer to pick up your import from Aus. Border Force. Your WA police website should have a guide to importing page, or contact Australian Border Force in your State, Cheers.
