NSW it is fine to own but VIC from memory you need to be a member of a blade collectors guild/club. VIC has stupid laws for knives/swords.

In NSW - YES. In Vic - NO.

In Vic you need a special permit.

See below in Special Information http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Saigo-Black- ... Swi7RZM-uI

I'm not suggesting that sword, but the info makes my point.

If you want one check out Lawrance Ordnance. I have never bought an Asian sword of any type from them, but I have bought a few Windlass and Hanwei European swords (which are made in Asia, I admit, but European style).

No. Not in Vic http://www.police.vic.gov.au/content.as ... t_ID=25574

Bugger, I was reading all the prohibited items while others were posting.

In Victoria we even have laws about pocket knives and leatherman's :-)
Authentic katanas are thousands of dollars aren't they?

It seems that one pair of my Motorcycle gloves are prohibited weapons! As they have hard material (carbon fibre) over the knuckles.

I have a pair of gloves like that wombat. But mine were cheap eBay ones I bought when I was 12. Weird how my 12 year old hands could only just fit in them and they said XXL. 17 now and there is no way they would fit.
