Permit to acquire QLD

Post by Joeseb87 » 20 Oct 2017, 8:41 pm

How does a QLD licence holder apply for a permit to acquire for a category a or b weapon without putting down the serial number and disposers name. You use to be able to get a permit for a category a or b weapon without any more info needed can't seem to do that online.

Ya should be able to put in the caliber and action and dealer number that's all ya need. The rest of the info is submitted on the nod or notice of disposal after ya actually purchase the firearm. Then it's different for a purchase from an individual:thumbsup:

Ok I think I finally got that right!!!!

I put one in for a dealer and all that was required was dealer number action and calibre.

Ive tried one for individual but cant get it through without a serial and the disposers license and address details.

I heard they have made it harder recently ?

Or we doing something wrong?

From an individual you need serial no and their licence no.

Whats the problem with that? Makes sense to me

I just applied for a PTA a week or two ago and already have it in my hands
It is still the same Owners name-- gun licence number--address--caliber-- type ( sako ) who is brokering the deal
Then your personal information it's pretty straight forward

Only issue I had was if you see something you like on usedguns or something. You need to then submit the PTA and wait up to 4 weeks for it or more if its your first of that class.

I think previously you could submit a PTA and have it in hand then just change details as long it was in same class.

Just sent away for a PTA in QLD to buy a rifle from a friend in the States.
I filled out the PTA and put down my mates particulars as the person I am buying it off, but after contacting the bloke who is handling the importing for me, and my local gun shop, I had to ring weapons licensing and get them to change my disposer from my mate in the States, to my local shop, where I will pick it up from.

Purchases MUST be brokered through a Licenced Dealer, see -
QPS.
6. Acquiring from a licensed individual

If you are acquiring a weapon from a licensed individual, you are required to have the transaction brokered by a licensed Weapons Dealer. The transaction can be brokered by a Queensland police officer if the nearest licensed Weapons Dealer is located more than 100 kilometres from your usual place of residence.

The Weapons Dealer or police officer will check the bottom section of the PTA and complete the Licensed Dealer/Police Certificate on the reverse side of the PTA. The Weapons Dealer or police officer will then forward the completed form to Weapons Licensing. On receipt Weapons Licensing will transfer the registration of the weapon to your licence.

The disposer of the weapon is required to sign the Notice of Disposal. If for some reason the disposer is unable to sign the document, a Statutory Declaration outlining the reason must be attached to the Form 27.

Both the acquirer and disposer should sign the back of the PTA.

If you fail to present the weapon with the PTA to a licensed Weapons Dealer (or a police officer) the transaction is not complete. The firearm will not be registered to your licence. The PTA will expire and you will become unlawfully in possession of a firearm and at risk of prosecution
