Qld PTA info

Post by dirtjay » 04 Jan 2018, 8:09 pm

I put in a PTA and it was approved on 14 dec 2017
I was just waiting for it to be faxed to the dealer. Fully expected Xmas period to make the wait longer.
As the new rifle had been ordered and payed for in full on the 14 dec.

I rang the dealer today to ask if they had received it yet - no they haven’t.
Then rang weapons licensing today and they confirmed it was faxed on the 15.
So I asked if they had a record of who it was faxed to?
The record showed it was faxed to a different dealer than where I had already paid for the rifle.

WL said they cannot re-issue to a different dealer until the original PTA was mailed (posted) back to them with a signed notice of disposal form to ask for a dealer transfer.
Expect 10 working days from receiving it to re-issue.

The dealer (I bought from) said they would charge $70 to transfer the rifle to where the PTA was.
And expect 10 working days for that transfer to happen.

RESULT: I just did a new PTA for the dealer with my new rifle.
Too much effort for $38

Lesson learnt, maybe don’t list a dealer, leave shopping options open...

Yep if you’re doing an online pta you have to put in the dealer details unless it’s a private purchase where you put the disposers details and you can then take it to any dealer to broker.

I’ve got one i submitted on 14/12 that I’m waiting for approval still. Guess they have been busy over the holiday period.
