Raised an eyebrow or two but nothing beyond that. I've also handed it over (by mistake, wasn't paying attention when I pulled it out of my wallet) as ID for a credit card when starting a bar tab. Bar chick didn't bat an eyelid - which to be honest surprised me a bit.

Myself, I wouldn't use it as a normal form of ID ordinarily simply because I'm not a huge fan of any more people than necessary, who I don't know, knowing both my address and that I have a firearm licence. I sort of get Tom604's point though - it should be perfectly normal.

no address on my licence :unknown: date of birth ,name, picture, thats about it  and you know why the bar chick didn't bat an eye??because you were just showing your MAN card   ,,

I have a high risk license with my name and photo on it issued by the Queensland gov, it's not good enough for id. I tried at a couple of places, they would only accept a drivers licence.

The following is copied from the AusPost requirements for a police check.
Recently had to do this to renew an explosives/restricted goods licence.
It all depends on the level of scrutiny required.

I used my firearms arms licence at Australia Post to meet the I.D points criteria for my working with children check. The chick behind the counter looked at me like I was some sort of criminal. Now I wouldn't normally use my firearms licence as ID. But I needed to get the working with chrilden check sortted and it was the only card I had in my wallet that got me enough points of identification. Oh well.
