I ask those who oppose duck hunting if they have any problems with Aborigines who live in remote areas hunting ducks for dinner, they usually say no so I then ask them if they only oppose white people hunting ducks for dinner.

Then I ask if it is somewhat racist to only oppose white people hunting ducks for dinner if they're ok with Aborigines doing it.

The Aborigines don't have a duck hunting season they can hunt them year round, duck hunting season only applies to non aboriginals which is racist if you think about it.

I voted to keep duck hunting thanks for the link.

Perfect line of questioning Baronvonrort! There is no logic to their agenda, and it'll fall apart every time it's questioned by a sane mind!

Brilliant, even more so because it's true. You can apply that to almost any hunting argument.

This.
A lot more challenging than some give it credit for too.
Cold mornings, lots of waiting and being still, learning to use camo, cover, calls and decoys effectively.
Plus the experiences, standing in the dark waist deep in water and watching the sun come up and explode with life and seeing the distinct rythmic beat of a duck flapping slowly approach before all hell breaks loose and you dont know where to look
Good times.

I've always wondered, how do you guys retrieve the bird? For example, if I wanted to give it a go and do my tests, etc. I have no intentions of owning a retriever or any dog for duck hunting anyway. And my current dog would be like, no mofo, you swim! Also, I don't own a boat. I am sure a lot of you are like that too, so how do you retrieve a bird? Fishing rod? Need a boat? Always been interested, but never got a solid answer.

Shoot the shallow swamps, so just wade out. Or a canoe. They often fall on the shore anyway.

What old bloke said.
Effective range is well within 50m for most people so you never have to go far.
If it lands dead I just leave it untill I am done shooting for the morning.

Easiest is shooting on the rice as the bays are small and shallow.
I would suggest everyone give the rice a go at least once even if they are only a bit interested, in a good year you will have a ball, plus many properties have good spotlighing options for rabbits and foxes etc, also networking for access to other properties becomes super easy
