Do that only have one-year licences over there?

Yep. Although I think older licenses are possibly grandfathered into different renewal times (if they have the need to renew at all.)
Collectors licenses are also 5 years. But the standard A/B or H licenses are 1 year only.

One frustrating aspect of firearm licencing in WA is that each and every firearm is, effectively, licensed individually. So while the licence holder is authorised to own and use the firearms on their licence, every individual firearm has to be justified and approved separately. If we want to replace one with another of similar or same calibre we have to go through the whole process of proving genuine reason/genuine need and supply new property letters every time PLUS pay an Addition fee (or "noting fee") of $184 although you can add several fireams of the same class on one application. If a licensed owner wanted to add a centerfire and a rimfire at the same time that would be two fees totalling $368.
We also need to supply a "serviceability certificate" for every addition - usually the dealer will supply this for free for firearms purchased from them but we need to pay a dealer for an inspection and certificate for all private sales.

Has anyone put in an application lately and if so what was the waiting time untill approval. For me its coming up 8 weeks since I put my application in.
