Antique Shotgun

I have an old shotgun that was handed down through generations in my family. I got it when my father passed away in 2004.

Wondering if anyone can help me with some info on it.

As far as I can tell it was made by CW Coates, Birmingham,England in circa 1886

Side by side twin trigger, twin hammer.

Wondering where I can take it for an appraisal.

Can submit photos if needed.

Especially if there are any proof marks or other information stamped into the metal.

Just an idea here drewsta but you could try a call to Lawrence Ordnance in Sydney as well.

They do a lot of the old stuff and sell restored war rifles and that kind of thing. Armour, lots of memorabilia.

As good a chance as any I guess. Try 'em.

Your average dealer with give you bugger all for it.

Buying back a basically 'new' second hand modern rifle you'd be lucky to get half what it cost new, even if it's only a few months old.

Keep an eye out the used guns sites, or put out an expression of interest asking offers on one to see what people will pay.

If OP is game to give it a try could be a fun project to do before trying to sell it. Hopefully add to the resale value.
