Miroku MK70 - Best Budget Shotgun?

Post by ThePlinkster » 23 Jan 2021, 7:39 pm

Hey Guys

I created a thread a while back

I was trying to work out what the best shotgun would be for a budget of around $1,500 max (approx)

I seem to be leaning a lot towards the:
"Miroku MK70 Sporter G1 30" Under and Over"

I seem to be really interested in the Miroku MK70 Sporter G1 30" Under and Over

Would you guys say that the "Miroku MK70 Sporter G1 30" Under and Over" is the best (or close to being the best) shotgun on the Australian market for a budget of around $1,500 max?

Please note;
- I plan to use my shotgun for recreational clay target shooting only
(Down The Line, Skeet and some Trap)
Nothing too serious
But I would still like to get good results from it
And I would still like for it to be sturdy, decently built and reasonably long lasting etc
- I have already shouldered the Miroku as well and it did seem to suit me well
I liked the way it handled
I liked the weight of it
It seemed to suit my body type well

I look forward to hearing your opinions on this one

Thank you

For a decent gun for mucking about yes its good value. You can buy cheaper and still muck around and you can buy more expensive and muck around. The Miroku will be fun to muck around and the Miroku will have reasonable resale value when you stop mucking around.

Had one with 28" barrels. Great shotgun. Reliable and easy to use, for me anyway. Only used for bunny busting, though.

Thanks for that feedback Bugman
I have seen quite a few reviews on the Mirokus
(On YouTube & various other firearms forums)
I've never seen anyone complain about them
Surprisingly, I don't think I've seen 1x bad review about them
Very interesting
They seem to be awesome from the reviews that I have seen

Suggest not to buy a gun for trap until you have shot trap a little more.
Shotguns are very much about fit and familiarity.
As you are new to the sport I would suggest to use the club guns or borrow one.
This will allow you to refine your style as well as try a few different guns.
It is also worth mentioning that the stock on trap guns is made such that trap guns shoot high compared to skeet and field guns.
As I have mentioned elsewhere any shotgun can be used but if you are ONLY going to shoot say Trap or DTL then get a gun for that purpose.
Personally I have a dedicated DTL gun and use a sporting gun with screw chokes for Skeet and field use.
One well placed shot is all it takes.

They guy said he wanted a reasonable price shotgun that he can shoot casually at the range. Now you are recommending two shotguns and just doubled his budget.
