Chosing between 2 shotguns, which one to go with?

Post by MRadd » 19 Jun 2024, 10:42 pm

Hello everyone,
It's time for me to get a pushbutton shotgun and I have two options:
A - Templeton T2000
B - Bushpig BP20
What do you think about the quality and reliability of these two?
I already tested T2000 on the range - looks and running OK for me, but have no chance to play with BP20
The folding option in BP20 is not what I'm looking for (In any way I have no plans to store or transport it folded) but seems like another possible point of failure (as I can see in the pictures - it's just one 7-8mm pin)
Which one of these two you can recommend and why?
Thank you

It depends what you want to do.
The Templeton I've shot was a standard 28" which you could almost use like a shotgun. The bushpig already has picatinny rail on it which if you are not using a red dot is a waste of time. The hinge is definitely another point of weakness that will get loose over time.

I do like the fact it can be opened for safety and transport.

My money, and this choice I'd go with T2000.

My money and any other choice then it's break action double or triple barrel for serious hunting.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I'm going to use it for occasional hunting and target shooting.
My main concern is the overall build quality, I'm OK with the quality of T2000 but not familiar with BP20.

I think the Templeton t-2000 would be my choice, for the same reasons re reliability that concern you. Plus I dislike tacticool ******

Got a chance to have a look at the BushPig... No, thanks.
T2000 is built more solid, the materials look much better and the finish is of higher quality, definitely the winner.

Yes.

And a good beretta silver pigeon or miroku Mk70 is the next step up again

Honestly, for the same money I'd be going second hand and a known brand under/over or side by side. I just can't warm to neutered semis/pumps/levers.
