Cat C - nearly all bases covered now

My birthday preset last month:

WA is pretty stiff on the regs but at least we can still own these. When I was growing up there was a winchester defender in the house and I loved that old gun. This is the closest thing I could find - a low mileage XTR which I intend to use in the discipline of practical shotgun. I have ordered a black synthetic stock with recoil reducer as the gun is not very heavy.

Just arrived last week were some shiny new AP "deuce" shotshell caddies. I'll post photos up of them just to make everyone envious.

"Nearly all bases covered" means I don't yet have a Cat D.

I use my A,B,C and H to full effect already; guess one can always find time for another category if needed.

what is your genuine reason to have Cat C? Competition shooting?

Are the requirements the same there as other states?

Practical Shotgun, although I could probably get an endorsement under primary production. The problem with primary producer endorsement is it would probably limit use of the gun to only one property and I doubt it could be used for competition.

Cat C for competition means it can only be used for club approved competitions. WAPOl sent a strongly worded letter (this is WA) to accompany the firearm license in which this was spelt out, reminding me of the need to secure the firearm at all times. I don't have a problem with this. The five round magazine limit applies.

I have ordered an ATI synthetic stock for it which shall be pinned so it is not telescopic. I think we are allowed to have adjustable stocks provided they only move 40mm. I Don't want to ruin the original timber furniture, and also need to mount a side saddle carrier, plus the ATI has a recoil reducer.

That's it?

I've never tried to a Cat C here, you just say it was for competition and hey presto?

You need to be a financial member of a club that requires a semi auto or pump action shotgun in one of its disciplines.
