Anyone else have an akkar churchill and regularly shoot solids through cylinder choke ?

Ive only done it a handful of times but would like to shoot more solids thru it, i have no idea why the user manual said it doesnt reccomend shooting solids thru it...

i have one and have done a bit of home work on this
the end result no i wouldnt do it .
you can rip the choke's out and it can lead to much bigger problems .
you can shoot 5 and up thats being safe

Do you mean solid slugs in a wad or rifled slugs?

I've shot the kind that shoot in a plastic wad just to see how they shoot and they seem find in cylinder choke. I'm sure I read somewhere they reccomend IC or C chokes only for slugs.

They are actually pretty accurate, hitting clays lying on a mound at 50m is achievable

I can't find it now but I a while back they were fine in the shorter barrel versions but some people were having issues with the 28" ones.

Sorry to chip in hearsay, but hopefully someone who knows better can clarify.

that could be the problem, my triple has the short barrels, I use Winchester rifled slugs and Rottwiel Brenneke rifled slugs

Dose your Akkar have screw in chokes ? If so like previously mentioned, just use improved cylinder, or cylinder chokes.

if your still worried about them being too tight through the choke just pull one apart and check out its construction and take a few measurements.

Just pull the slugs out of a case and check it drops freely through the choke.

Shotty noob question here... So if there is any resistance or sticky points in dropping a slug through a shotty barrel it's a no-no?

If the slug (and wad, if there is one) fit freely though the choke (usually cylinder or improved cylinder, as the others will be too tight) drops through with no resistance, should be ok. If there is any doubt use the cylinder choke even if the improved cylinder seems ok.

I have loaded lead balls in a wad in the past and were ok.

I'm also no expert on this but lead being relatively soft as it is compared to steel chokes is there literally no margin of error in this?

Will a choke shave a few peelings off a slug if it's borderline without damage or is the velocity simply to much to go through without any give on both sides?
Barrett M82 .50 calibre... Ok, not really :(
