Yep, Cat A in NSW as per any other shotgun. Backorders have now exceeded 3000 for each version, the first shipment of 300 each won't make much of a dent in backorders. I've heard that NIOA expect to receive 300 units each per month so it may be a long wait for those at the bottom of the list. Good to see the industry is healthy and plenty of demand out there but lets hope they can increase the quantities.

Makes the the 1996 buy back of my (and many other) near new pump actions a massive joke and ripp off. I still feel lime it was stoln by the government of the time. The compensation was pathetic in my view.

I had one of the few Mossburg 20" S/S Mariners in the country, same as issued to the U.S Coast Guard at the time. I drilled and tapped the receiver and had a ProPoint scope mounted on it and loved using it with Breneke 12g solids. Was awesome on the giant bunnies out to 50m, my current obsession with 1/2 inch Brownings is possibly me over compensating for the loss of that special shotgun or for being a small man....

Legal thievery aside... I thought the compensation wasn't that bad?

I read of guys getting good money for old clunkers... Or did you get boned if you had anything that was valuable?

Here you go.

What firearms are applicable to a Category A firearms licence?
* Air rifles.
* Rimfire rifles (other than self-loading).
* Shotguns (other than pump action or self-loading).
* Shotgun/rimfire combinations.

From NSW Pol website.

It's not a pump action or self-loading so it's Cat A.
