Looks like most shottys are wood stocked and I was hoping for a composite one as it'll be mainly for field work. Not many plain black ones besides the Akkar synthetic.

Either that or get over the fact that all that pretty scrollwork and wood will one day get banged up despite my best efforts.

Look for a hatsan escort silver synthetic.

Looks like a good bit of kit for a hunting shottie

Who needs 2 when I've got the Chiappa X-Caliber :) 12g / 22LR all in one combo.

-snip-

And it came with these...

-snip-

All up it's good for 2¾” - 3” 12ga/22LR, 380, 9mm, 357mag / 38sp, 40S&W, 44mag, 45acp, 410/45colt, 20ga and can also double as a canoe paddle due to the polypropylene foam stock.

Probably one of the better "Prepper" combos legally available in NSW and it shoots surprisingly well considering with a red dot scope mounted.

I'd like one of those in 17HMR and 12 or 20 gauge. Probably 20 gauge, as you could keep the gun lighter and not have as much recoil as a 12 gauge.

In fact, the chiappa little badger by itself that folds in half is a really good rifle but itself. Chiappa is seemingly making some good stuff for survival and hunting :D

It seems to my jaundiced eye there are rifle people and shotgun people. Myself I am a rifle person, started on rifles, tutored in rifle hunting. I feel more comfortable with the sitting shot on ground animals.
Others by dint of family or tradition start on shotguns and continue.

have you used many of the inserts as yet? I am interested as there is a few people who have advertised the inserts on their own. From reading internet reviews it can be tricky to get the fired pistol case out of the insert, particularly with small rims like the 45LC.

Ok, tried the Akkar in synthetic and the stock is super plasticky and hollow, yuck! Very different feel to my Tikka Varmint (well, you get what you pay for).

You could fill it full of foam, that should take that hollow plastic type sound out of it (I know what you mean though they feel toy like (can't stand plastic crap in rifles) I'm a wood man through and through, altho if it was a decent synthetic stock I could live with it but 99% of the rifles that come with synthetic stocks are crap IMO.

Well I'm no expert on stocks coz I only have one rifle at the moment and that synthetic stock feels so much better. Might pony up a few more dollars and get a Miroko MK70, it might change my mind on wood stocks.

Nothing wrong with the Miroku shotguns mate, that should do the job nicely (even have a look at some 2nd hand ones) just make sure you get someone to fit it to you correctly or else you won't hit s**t with it (well not as well as you would if it fits you right anyway)

Shotguns are extremely versatile from smashing clays to bagging rabbits, foxes and pigs. The secret is all in the load and to some degree the chokes. For my 2 guns, they are primarily trap and sporting clays guns which only occasionally hit the field when whistling up some foxes.

The is definietely a lot of interest in the Adler with a few of my friends intending to use them for pigging with slugs.

Give it a crack!!

I'm surprised no one has come up with the environmental/conservation hunting reasoning behind such a firearm? while semi autos are best suited for situations like this a lever action or pump action is better then nothing. Can't down many pests all in one go if too busy hand loading ammoz into the firearm. first shot spooks them and then they run away as fast as they can...doesn't that suck? they want us to hunt ferals/pests but they want to make us as inefficient as possible while doing it lol

hoplophobic / feral lovers "lets welcome them instead"
you bastard animal rights extremist variants are part of the reason why native species are going extinct.
they are not all bad though some are very reasonable! can't judge em all because of a few...right?

I heard a thing on the radio the other day with some woman saying they should reclassify / rename feral cats to be "Australian Wild Cats"

What a joke.

Rename an introduced predator to sound native and the problem goes away apparently...

Name them quolls. That way, after they've eaten all the original quolls, we'll still have quolls runing around the bush flourishing.

Now, what can we rename as possums? Maybe cane toads?

That's how politicians "solve" things. Reclassify the problem so there isn't one then brag about how well you did.

I have a pair, both 12 Gauge, an SKB under n over for field and clays (a mate has a trap) and a hungarian made coach gun. The coachey is great as a paddock gun. Excellent rabbit muncher.
Winchester Model 06 .22 Pump
Winchester Model 9422 .22WMR Lever, with scope
Marlin Model 1895 45-70 Government, Lever
3 shotguns, all 12 Ga, U/O, SKB, FEG (coach) and Fausti
maybe a Boito coach gun, just because I should have a SXS in the safe.
