Post by TBJ » 22 Jan 2016, 11:54 am

Hi All,
I have just bought a new Beretta 692 Sporting U/O, I have heard about cleaning and lubing a Beretta before i use it but what do i do and how do i do it before i shoot it as i really dont want to ruin my brand new $6000 shotgun?
Thanks
Jez

Got the exact same gun myself. Great very flat shooting shotgun.

I have always used Eds Red on my shotguns. Works well, even on an initial clean. Berettas instructions/owners msnual in the box give a good description of where to grease the gun around the monobloc. It is a good place to start.

There are plenty of shotgun cleaning videos on YouTube now. Worthwhile taking a look.

There might be a thin layer of preservative, even in the barrels but it wouldnt cause an issue, wont obstruct like a rifle if say there was a plentiful amount in there....

Eds Red is great for cleaning and leaving a film of lube...... but it will take the finish of the wood, take care.

Whats a flat shooting shotgun....maybe its like the Adler, new tech and all..

Thats a fine piece of equipment, that your descendants will still appreciate in years to come ;)

You definitely want to clean out the factory grease.

Firing it will it's full of that will almost certainly damage/bulge the barrel.

Fark .... 6 Grand !!!

Is it a 'special' 692, or is that the going price ?

When I bought a couple of new 682s a few years back, I thing the average price was a tad under $4000.
