I did that once on the Boito that hadn't been cleaned in years and years (I thought it had rust and was pitted) turns out it was just very dirty indeed, worked a treat and the bore was lovely and shiny underneath all the crap! :lol:

Can't say I'd do it to the Beretta however, not that it ever gets left dirty anyway.

One of the advantages in having an old clanger you don't have to worry about :mrgreen:
