.243 pill for goats

Post by MrClark » 18 Jul 2014, 4:54 pm

G'day all, i'll start by saying my thoughts go out to all the families affected by MH17.

I bought some .243 80 grain GMX projies for goats, i thought it was a good choice, what do you guys/gals reckon?
ive been using 95gr SST's in the past and they land like a sledgehammer but thought id try something else.
I really hope Export isn't actually Exported, mighty embarrassing for WA, hahaha I'll still drink it though

If I can send a Remington 80gr pill through a pig, I'm sure a goat won't be any issue.

I haven't used the GMX, but when I was shooting my .243 I had 80gr ballistic tips as one of my loads and they did more than tickle...

Half decent shot placement on a goat and they'll put 'em down no worries I'm sure.

Just FYI 80gr .243 is the smallest legal calibre here in VIC for Hog, Chital and Fallow deer.

If the powers that be reckon it'll do for them, it'll do for a goat surely.

SST is a great bullet.

Why you changing out of curiosity?

Lower recoil load or just giving something else a go?

Cheers for all the replies, uh managed to pick them up for cheap from my brother, he's using the 87Gr V-Max so I thought id give them a go.

So pretty much, shoot where it counts and I'm laughing?

Cheers fellas!

Fair enough.

Keeping the cost down is always a good reason :D

They'll do the trick, I'm sure.

The V-max a decent bullets, accurate too.

They were one of the other loads I was using when I had my .243. Shot .9" out of a stock Ruger which ain't bad at all.
