Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but the main difference is price! I've seen a primed case of blackout worth more then factory .308 ammo

Yep, they're not cheap.

Lots of guys making their own from .223 brass. Only economical way really (unless you've got more money than you can spend).

(newbie question)

.223 is a lot longer brass than 300 blackout right?

I guess you have to cut the top of it off before you resize it if you're doing that?

I could definitely see the appeal in the states where a AR-15 can be converted fairly easily but I can't see it being used here outside of the tacti-cool crowd

Correct.

They're cut off just below the shoulder first, then neck down and finally trimmed.

Then you've got yourself a 300 Blackout case ready to load.

Thanks guys.

Still interesting to read chopping them down from .223 and that, but not ever going to be a practical cartridge for me based on this.

I was just curious anyway.

Cheers.

The 300AAC is perfect for Aussie shooters/hunters, it represents the solution to a problem that has dogged us for ages; getting a 30cal chambering into our AR15s..... Oh that right, WE DONT HAVE AR15s....

308 Winchester it is!

You forgot to mention sub sonic loads for use with your suppressor.
