No idea on prices of centrefire ammo, but I had trouble finding rimfire for what I was used to paying.
Been paying $550 a case, best price I found locally a couple weeks back was $650 - 5% discount for bulk.
Scored a case for $500, but it's going to be significantly cheaper to order it from Brisbane, even with Dangerous Goods shipping.

I reload mate and one of the benefits of reloading I guess is purchasing components in bulk when on special. In saying that I have noticed that powder has gone up considerably

The value of the Aussie dollar probably doesn't help much. Stuff always seems to go up when the dollar is down. But is pretty slow to come down in price if the dollar is up.

I was going through some of my Father in laws ammo boxes from around the early 70s thinking how cheap it was. Like less than $5 for 20 packet of 222 ammo. But he explained that he only earnt around $60 of $70 dollars per week back them.

Black powder has almost doubled in price in just 5 years as have percussion caps. Fortunately I haven’t bought a bullet in longer than I can remember.

I don't shoot enough BP for it to be a problem. I bought a kg of powder, 1000 caps, and 300 pre-lubed patches when I bought my Hawken Rifle - should last me a long while yet. I also bought a box of Hornady balls and cast several hundred more myself so I don't need those either. I should grab some more FFFg though next time I'm in a shop just to stay ahead of the pricing.

That is a good pick up mate. $80/kg = winning.
My local has ADI 500gm for circa $65 and $116 for the 1kg BM range of powder.
You have done extremely well to get 10kg for $800.

Not wrong there everything is getting worse and more expensive. Love the 168g Zmax now discontinued i bought up big when i had the oppertunity. Have been told they have been replaced with the Amax same bullet just twice the price. Powder seems to be steady but supply is short. Brass is getting more expensive. I havent seen adi 223 brass anywhere was able to pick up for $33 per 100.

Nothing is getting cheaper i have a savings/splas fund so if i see anything cheap i can take advantage of it but it pays to buy big when you have a good deal available.

Yes, I'm well aware :-)
I normally pay $375 for a 4kg bottle. He also gave me 5000 Winchester primers for $200. I don't use all that many Winchester primers but I couldn't say no at that price.

Twenty yrs ago reloading used to save me oodles. Price per shot was nothing. Now it’ seems like its still cheaper to reload but not by a big margin

The 168 Z Max are $185/500 at the moment I think mate. Have you used them on pigs?

I found that they work well on pigs havent yet tested on a 100kg boar but have found they will bring down a 80kg boar no dramas.

Mate I made up my own spreadsheet just out of interest when I started reloading again.
These are the figures I come with, based on 10 shots per case. Cheaper if I get more reloads per case.

.223 55gn Speer. = $0.50
6.5CM 143gn ELDX = $1.09
.308 130gn HP Speer = $0.86
.308 178gn ELDX. =$0.99

Cheaper and more accurate than factory ammo mate. Plus I enjoy reloading.
