Post by andym79 » 21 Feb 2019, 9:45 pm

Hi, does anyone here shoot 243 calibre 70 grain Nosler varmageddon tipped in a 1:14 barrel?

If so do they stabilise okay?

That is a slow twist barrel for a 243, is it a custom barrel?

You should have no problems unless the Noslers are lead free. I shoot 70 grain SMK and Speer TNT from a 6mm BR out of a 1:14 twist. You should have over 400 fps extra speed over me.

Sorry I should have made it clear, I meant 243 calibre. The cartridge I am looking at is a 6mm ppc.

Then I have a small speed advantage over you. 70s are a bit heavier than PPC shooters use but you should be OK. Can you try a 58 grain Vmax instead?
