95gn Speer shoot well, as do the 123gn SST, however my go to is the 143gn ELDX for hogs.

Speers 90/95 might be my first try I think Everything else has jumped up big dollar wise .....but I’ll do some research first I think just in case they are ridiculous ly fragile. A creedmore shooting light pills fast With a good bc appear to Be the flattest shooting thing I have seen for a while

Mate I also have shot the 140gn Speers, they are reasonably cheap and shoot well if you didn’t want to pay the dollars for the Hornady.

Thanks Jim , I will be mindful of that. Been a hornady fan for ages now. The v max pills 87 weight in 243 for about 33 or 35 bucks per hundred so very cheap for a reliable accurate pill ....I still have tons left loaded and loose. Since I have been experimenting lately with a 308 I have noticed that all the other hornady stuff is priced up there it looks like those cheap 87 s are just so on their own ....can u describe for me please your brand , model , barrell profile and length And stock of your creedmore night rig ? I’m thinking mostly howa but will accept ruger or Remington. Buggered if I know what’s happening with Remington atm. I think I heard ruger are taking them over

Mate I am running a Sako A7 rough tech pro. It is a 1:8 twist, 24.4” medium contour fluted barrel. It is in the standard synthetic stock mate.
The heavier pills I load with AR2209, the 95gn seem to shoot better with AR2206H.
Hope that helps mate.

Basically a Tikka with a Sako badge on it, poor man Sako but a bloody nice bit of kit and accurate straight from the box.

I ended up shooting the 90gr speers I had loaded up today.

All loads i discuss here are in my rifle and you will need to work up your loads in your rifle.

42.1 shot an inch group at 100m - @3550fps

I loaded up to 43grs of 2206h but the groups were very poor out of an 8 twist barrel. Spraying 0.5m horizontal.

Possibly need to retry loading in the lower end of what I was testing again to verify.

I guess they may work better in others Guns but ill be doing more testing again with them.

Gun is not the issue as I punched 2x .3moa groups with 140gr bergers that I was testing also
Love my shooting.

Thanks for the description Jim Tom. I got inspired and had a look at some sakes. They ranged from 3-11 thousand. But the timber work looked beautiful.... maybe one day

1.8 257

The desire is to run from lightest up to @140gn max for hunting not a comp gun), however varmint style gun so its got to be a .5” gun with a few different load.
Alternative is to go to 25 cal and pay a bucket load for a 1:9” twist 257 barrel from the States and then be able to run 85’s up to 120gn in a 25/06.

Basically I am trying to future proof myself with a gun that cover a few bases and ditch my Ruger No1V 7STW (barrel is toasted) for something that can (explosively) shoot small ferals plus run a heavier projectile fast enough to have decent ballistics out past 400m on heavier game as needed.

Swan will do 1.8 257 barrelS
