Has anyone ever used this cartridge in a hunting scenario? What did you hit? How fast did it drop?

Basically the same as any other 55gr pill. Approx 2.5 minutes at 300m (with a 200m zero). And using a 55gr beyond 300m starts to get pretty tricky...
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

Hi insanity
I should have been a bit more specific, I wanted to know how well it work on animals, possibly pigs, it has excellent penetration so was curious to hear if anyone had used it with success.

oh "how fast did the animal drop" - my bad. I don't have personal experience with them, but they don't seem to be a varmint round. You may see over-penetration with smaller thin-skinned game, but they'd probably penetrate better on larger game.

What type of game are you planning to hunt with it?
How fast did it drop? About 0.3 of a second with a brain shot on a fox. Probably have worse results if you gut shoot something. Is that what you are after?

I probably wouldn't use it on foxes at $2+ per cartridge, and it would probably go through 6 foxes if they were sitting next to each other (more chance of winning lotto twice) a 0.75c hornady 60 grain TAP would fill that gap. I'm thinking I could use it on pigs.

Lots of pigs have been dropped with 222 and 223.
None by me.
The chances of needing a running shot are too great in my opinion and yes I go bigger.
But if you place the shot properly then just about anything will drop.
So if the pig is standing broadside and not really going anywhere than why not?
One well placed shot is all it takes.

Hi Mate

I have NOT used the GMX
I believe them to be too hard for the thin skinned hunting I do.
I used 55gr V-max and 55gr Sierra game king.

I use the 55gr V-max for thin skinned prey(Most of my 223 hunting), but also keep several 55gr Sierra game king with me in case I come across a small/medium pig.
My son reduced the life expectancy of a pig on our last get away with the 55gr sierra game king. One shot kill, bang flop. I find they have more penetration than the V-max.
