22lr bullet drop on mildot reticle

Hey. Just wanting some opinions on this as I'm not sure it's right.

So this is me playing around with 22lr bullet drop on a mildot reticle on the Bushnell app, just trying to get my head around aiming points etc at longer range. I've got different brand mildot scope on the rifle currently, but the beauty of mildot is that one mil is one mil, or so I'm hoping. Distances are in meters, and zero is 50m

I'm making assumptions about velocity and bullet weight, but they should be close to what ever I end up using in this rifle. Specs are in the top left.

Anyway, does this look around about right? I thought it would be dropping faster than it shows in this. Not looking for exact figures or anything, just trying to get my head around things

Using your figures I get similar numbers - 81m, 105m, 127m, 147m, 167m.
Shoot groups at 50m, 100m, 150m and 200m, measure the trajectory, then calculate backwards to determine an accurate BC, assuming you have measured the muzzle velocity.

Beyond 300m, groups open up enough to make bullet drop measurement less than precise, but I believe my BC is reducing slightly past that distance. A 10mph wind speed from behind or ahead is enough to add or subtract about 80mm on the height of the bullet impact at 300m.

With CCI Standard Velocity in my 18" RPR I'm using this. Basically, from a 100m zero, bullet drop is 400mm (16") at 150m, 1200mm (4-feet) at 200m, 2400mm (8-feet) at 250m, 3900mm (13-feet) at 300m, 6000mm (20-feet) at 350m, 8300mm (27-feet) at 400m, 11300mm (37-feet) at 450m, 15200mm (50-feet) at 500m.
With my RPR .22LR with CCI SV I'm using this, but I'm zeroed at 100m, and I'm using minutes:

I've been working on it for a while now :-)
Out to 250m I can get decent measurements. At 300m my group might measure 400mm across, so I'd have to fire 50rds at least to get a reasonably precise centre to measure the drop, and any wind changes affecting the bullet during that second of flight can still throw it out. If the target is 25m above or below my firing altitude, that also affects bullet elevation by 50mm at 300m. But a 10mph crosswind puts me 900mm off the target at 300m, so the biggest problem is getting onto the target first :-)

If you go onto snipershide.com, on the rimfire page there is an internet competition fir best 6 x 5-shot groups at 50, 100, 200, 300 yards. I think someone has done a 400 now.

Your elevations look about right, but why not dial them instead of using holdover? I notice you are using HV ammo. The tightest groups on snipershide are using match ammo. Personally I use RWS R100, which comes out just supersonic, but is subsonic by 30 metres. It’s for 100+ metres, so it is made to be stable at transonic speeds.

Your scope will run out of elevation at about 300 metres unless you have thrown a lot of $$$’ at something with a 34mm tube and a canted mount.

Test your ammo at 100 metres; ammo which works fine at 50 can be rubbish at 100. If it is ok at 100, it should be ok at 200 or 300.

I have never got as good a group at 100 using HV ammo (about 1250 fps) as I do with R100 which is about 1150fps.

Consider buying a chronograph.

A bit different to NRA sizing, especially Chickens which are shot off-hand. All others shot over crossed-sticks. Same as the c/f cartridge match

I do wish Silhouette would stop shooting at the shape of animals though, and focus on actual kill zones.
