Aguila 60grain

Has anyone used this before? 60 grains from a 22lr at 950fps should do quite some damage on a little critter. A rather heavy bullet for a 22lr. It is like a little 22 short casing with a longer projectile.

It is .22 Short case with a long bullet.
Specification calls for 9"-twist minimum so mainly for use in AR platform .22LR conversion kits.
I want some for testing though as it'd be educational to shorten the bullet until it stabilizes.

My mate is using it in his henry pump and henry lever action and says it works great. Cleavers were selling them for $12 for a box of 50 so I thought I would try them out. I am impressed that it is a 60grain projectile.

Yes, some people do find they shoot fine in standard 16"-twist barrels, though how "standard" the barrels are might vary among manufacturers.

Agreed about the heavy bullet. Even at reduced velocity it must be spiking the pressure to some degree to get that lump moving. It's basically a .22 Short firing two 29gn bullets instead of one, without much velocity reduction. Perhaps it's reduced to .222" as it has so much bearing surface?

I will let you know how it goes mate. It would probably thud against a steel gong or tare apart a little rabbit. It is made in Mexico.

I heard the accuracy is pretty poor and there are stabilisation issues. I'd stick with the 45gr subs from CCI for now. They penetrate straight through rabbits.

I don't believe I've ever recovered a .22LR bullet that stopped inside a rabbit. .177" pellets can do though.

Subsonic or Quiet?

At what distance?

Was it a head shot?
