Just to get away from expensive .303 projectiles.

I am already using .30 cal projectiles in one of my .303's with great success(just use a .30 cal expanding ball in the die) and the next step is to fit a .30 cal barrel chambered in .303.

It is on the list.

You could accomodate the difference in cost of expensive 303 projectiles for the price of a barrel ??

The more you shoot the quicker it must become worth it.

What does it cost to cover a barrel replacement? 600 rounds maybe? If you shoot regularly I suppose that goes quick

I've figured it break even at 1200 shots, so about a year for me.

Not really worth it when you think about it but I have a perfect all matching action/stock that I only paid $50 for because it has a shagged barrel(blocked by a pull through and left to rust for 40 plus years) so it will only owe me $400 after it is finished.

Good for curiosity value.

I've often thought about the 30/303 not to save money on projectiles but for the flexibility of the options available.

Lets face it, the amount of styles and weights out there in 308 far outweighs the choices in 311/312.

I for one would love a 303 in a front locking action using 308 pills just for the fun of it and being able to beat 308 win ballistics in what is basically an old semi obsolete cartridge.

I know I would never see the money back from the build but it would still be worth it for me.

Ah ok. Bit more than I expected.

Still, if it's fun and it's something you wanna do... Probably still cheaper than going to the movies for entertainment

Costs you money to shoot either way.

Stock rifle, custom rifle... bullets aren't free either way...

Might as well have the one you want.
