SHould be a sweet thing, I run a 1:8 twist 6mm ARC and it loves 55gr BT thru to 103gr ELD X

The 243 should be the same, is this a rebarrel or a factory jobby bigrich ?

Hey mate , I’ve ordered a new tikka T3 . I’m second guessing myself over whether I should have 10 twist . 87vmax were as light as I’m interested in going. 95 sst and nosler BT’s for hunting. 105’s for occasional comps at my local range. That’s my plan anyway. 2209 or 2213sc is what I’m thinking for powder.

However, I’m considering getting it rechambered to 6mm manbun. Better case design especially with longer projectiles

Rich i have a T3 in 243 with an 8 twist barrel i put in last year and set it up solely for thermal. I have settled on 100 Speer BTSPs and 45 grains of Reloder 26 for 3100 fps. Yet to hit an animal with it but initial load development was very good in the order of half inch three shot groups. I have also tested 85 grain Speer BTSPs and Barnes TSX and all shot under MOA with minimal load development. All three of these bullets were used in my 6x45 and worked very well on game but I did over time single out the 100 grain Speer as it has a very good BC, has performed flawlessly on deer and boars and best of all they are very reasonably priced. I did look at getting some 95 SSTs to try in this 243 barrel but couldn't see any real gain for more money. Around Easter I should get to run the 243 on some pigs, deer and hopefully some calf eating dogs.
Some time back i had this same rifle in 10 twist factory barrel running as a 6x47 Lap with 75 and 87 Vmax. Very accurate but the 87s were so so on pigs. Tended to come apart on the gristle plate so head shots were needed. But for crows it was awesome in the wind. The bullet impact sound and detonation of crow hit by a 87 Vmax at 300 metres is like few others. Like a Swift and 60 grain Sold Base Noslers. Whatever happened to the great Nosler SBs?

Thanks very much for the info. The speers sound great. 165 boat tail Speer go great in my 308 musgrave.

I got grant swan to cut my old 243 1:10 and replace with stainless 1:8 24" barrel. I've shot 80gr Berger's, 87 vmax and 100gr rem corelokts and 100gr interlocks. All shoot very well. No complaints from me.

thanks for the feedback . i just hope my 243 is gunna shoot the factory "outback" 87 vmax load okay. to a certain degree i'm over reloading and like the option of just grabbing a couple of boxes and go shoot . 1-9 twist would be perfect for what i want to do i reckon , 24" for velocity as well .

In my Ruger 77 VT with 1:9 twist I shoot 90g ELD-X with 43.5g of 2209 which gives very good accuracy at 500m.
