Would many have the twist fast enough to shoot it well?
I thought 160-180gr was usual .308 territory?

MrClark wrote:Would the .338 WM do a good job on em? I chose it for Sambar hunts over in VIC as it shares the same trajectory as your .308's and .30-06's but it'd be handy if I could take it up NT as well.

But then they did used to hunt elephant with them..........................
I'll stick to my .300wm.

CZ550 Safari Magnum in 458 LOTT, load it upp with 450gr solid at 2400fps and you've got nearly 6000 foot pounds of energy.
an old saying comes to mind, the hunter fires, both the animal and the hunter hit the deck. the first one to his feet wins

The old "what's a suitable buffalo cartridge" is an ongoing and heated argument. Anything from the .270 to .5+ calibres depending on who you ask.
.338 WM will do it. Personally I wouldn't go any lower than that for a regular Buffalo rifle.
Anything left of those deer after you hit them with it?
MrClark wrote:Hahaha havent hit a deer with it yet, but Sambar is what its for, not much left of the shoulder hahaha
