Compensating bullets "Compbullets"

Wondering what peoples thoughts on the claims made for these bullets are, because I can't get my head around it.

The company that makes them is Compbullets (Maybe made them, their website is gone so maybe they've stopped).

The first claim is that the ported gas lubricates the bullet as it travels the length of the barrel. Dunno about that one?

Second is that the bullet works as a muzzle break as it exits.

This one makes no sense to me...

On a ported barrel or muzzle brake the bullet is blocking the muzzle for a moment stopping the gas from going forward so it can't push the rifle back, and it's redirect, that makes perfect sense.

On these those though it seems like it would just be puffing out a little of the gas from the sides as the bullet has all but left the muzzle already. Reckon these would really have any noticeable effect on recoil?

If they've closed up shop I guess that's an answer about how well they work?

I can understand the theory behind them, hollow base and porting holes, but I think even with the even distribution of vented basses leaving the muzzle, the accuracy would be kinda ******?

My litmus test for these things is what will they do my traditional bullet won't.

I Googled and saw they come in 9mm, .40 SW, .45, .44, and .30 cal for the bottom one there.

There are already match bullets to let a .308 do 1,000m target shooting and hunting bullets for anything in Australia, so why bother?

They'd definitely stand out on a shelf.

Mmmm, would probably only take the tiniest imperfection in a port to send the thing spiralling off.

I wonder if they do anything negative for drag once they're moving as well?

They must cost a bit too.

I'll stick with what's been working.

Looks like you would need those about as much as people need breaks on moderately recoiling rifles - not at all!

Looks like fanciful ideas to me, nothing practical though.

That's a good point, the air drag over the projectile entering those ports and coming out the base wouldn't help.
