Core-Lokts loose in 300 win mag

Post by RDobber » 12 Nov 2014, 1:30 pm

Back from a days shooting with some disappointment on the ammo front.

A mate picked up 2 packs of 150gr Core-Lokts and found 2 had loose projectiles after bumping one in. Loose enough to rotate with your fingers.

Ammo was taken from packs into a 50pc ammo holder before going out so not sure if it was 1 loose from each pack, or 2 loose from the same... Maybe got an off batch in the one box.

Unimpressed either way though.

They're selling them by the truckload from all accounts so they can't all be bad.

Didn't bother returning for 2 rounds. Just made sure they were a safe COAL and hand fed them to fire them and collect the brass.

Nothing painfully obvious stuck out as to why there should be a problem.

Necks appeared in good condition and all the rest. Probably is from the same box as very unlikely to happen over 2 I guess.

Other than that, shot well though. Felt more disappointing at the time of course.

Wrote this while still dirty about it

Neither have I.

Nothings perfect though, it'll happen eventually.

2 wronguns out of a thousands is still good odds so I'd give them another chance Rdobber.

Sounds like the crimps are a bit dodgy.

I struck the same problem with new factory 308 a little while ago... 100 rounds but there is always ONE...

And that's all I could put it down to... 99 perfect.

Drop a line to Remington.

You never know, sometimes companies like to make good on these things and send you some free stuff to make up for it :)
