Higher velocity with Remington brass?

Post by Farmjer » 11 Oct 2013, 2:58 pm

Hello all,

New to shooting and the forum here so be kind for the stupid questions that will follow :D

Getting into shooting I'm obviously reading up on it all. I'm not reloading yet but I will be in the future.

My question is, I've read a few comments from people using Remington brass in their loading because they get higher velocity out of it than other brass.

If you're shooting the same calibre though, specs should all be the same though right?

This is the wiki image of .308 for example

If the brass meets all these dimensions I don't see why it's faster?

Yes those specs will be correct in regards to external dimensions, internal neck diameter etc.

Case uniformity and thickness play a part though too.

If brass X has thicker walls than brass Y, it can have slightly higher velocity.
