Norma hunting ammunition

Post by Utcherd » 15 Feb 2015, 9:12 pm

Anyone using Norma factory ammo for their hunting?

Gone through my odds and ends of factory ammo and want to get 1 kind in the safe as the usual.

About the only one I haven't tried, how's it working for people?

Norma ammo was good stuff years ago and the cases good quality for reloading but I am not sure how good it is now. Sorry no recent experience with it .
The thing is that you need to find out what ammo functions and performs best in your gun and if it's easily available to you.
That usually requires buying a few different brands and types from your local supplier and test them out .

I've used their 100gr .243 ammo for hunting.

I dunno, it's just hunting ammo?

Shot an inch group. 100gr soft point will drop any small game.

What else to say?

Some years ago (5+) I did read in an OZ shooting magazine, a statement from one particular writer/reviewer, that Norma brass was actually made for them under contract from Lapua - I cant confirm this either way - perhaps someone with further knowledge of this could chip in and confirm/debunk this?

Only their brass.

I went through a pack a few years ago and it lasted longer than the usual Rem or Win brass. Seemed to need a little less trimming too.

Norma make good ammo at a price.

The thing that keeps them up I think is they do factory ammo for a number of 'hard to get' cartridges which others don't.
