Go wild... 17 HH, Fast and flat 1/2 the price of reloading the 223, low noise, faster than the 22 Hornet, little chance of richoet, it is just all good. The prices quoted for the 22 mag are high. Why wouldn't you reload?

A 22lr will do a fox in but only pretty close. The 22wmr is pretty expensive to feed. I had a few shots of a Lithgow 22wmr last weekend and it shot well with hornady 40gn but poorly with the hornady 30gn.
