personally I love the 375 winny and to this day I can't work out why I haven't got one probably because when

a good one worth having come up I didn't have the funds to pounce on it as they don't last long .

I always wanted one ever since the day I seen my mate Texas heart shoot a pig and the size of the exit out the

brisket convinced me then it was the best pig tosser right there .

Figured as much, thought some response was better then nothing. Got any pics of the rifle? I'm always curious to see what weird and wonderful calibers people are shooting. I put my name on a Weatherby MkV Accumark 6.5-300Wby Mag today.

I could imagine it being top medicine for a pig!
I have a Winchester 94 and I got it years ago before I knew too much about it, but it was more than a 3030 an less than a 444, times gone on an as ive gotten a bit older ive really come to love the Cartridge and rifle and use hawksbury river cast bullets now days on Sambar deer, peep sighted although loaded a little lower more like a hot 38-55 load..

I used the factory ammo for a while when I could get it but its a bit hotter an without changing front sight it shoots high, hence downloading an cusomisizing the rifle into a solid 100m gun and if on the broadside I wouldn't hesistate with a ranged 150m into the shoulder region.

I could imagine It bein a grouse pig gun, a few in the tube an quick handling with as you see, plenty of power

I've had one for years and love it!! ( It's my go to scrub gun )
Components are becoming a bit hard to come by though,Luckily I have heaps of brass though getting quality hunting projectiles is not so easy any more!!
I found mine performed much better with heavier pills ( 220 - 250gns )
I've always used Hornady 220 gn XTP's,But haven't been able to get them for a while,I don't think they even list them any more.
Sierra make a 200 gn pill for them,Haven't tried them.
A few months ago I got hold of some 250 gn Barnes Originals especially made for the .375 Win and preliminary load testing is very promising!!!

Actually the .30-30 is a necked down .38-55. :D

The .375 BigBore is a beefed up .38-55 designed to work at higher pressures and they (Winchester ) redesigned the Model 94 frame to handle this increase.
It was introduced in 1978 and all done to reinvigorate sales of the lever gun that had slowed down and to compete with the .444 Marlin cartridge.
The .38-55 was originally designed by Ballard as a 200 yard target round. It was then adopted commercially in it's present form around 1884 and was chambered by most commercial firearms manufacturers. It was the original chambering in the Winchester Model 1894 as a blackpowder round even though this rifle was developed for the "new" smokeless .30-30 round. This was due to inconsistency problems they were having with smokeless powder at the time. :geek:

I have 3 '94's chambered in .38-55, used mainly for target shooting out to 200m. ( Silhouette ) I have done a fair bit of hunting with them and the .38-55 works wonders on goats and pigs, both with "hot" 255gr cast @ 2100f/s and very mild 1300 f/s loads. The 375 can easily duplicate those loads and then some. If getting brass is a problem , you can trim .38-55 down, yes it is longer, and use it in the 375 with mild, low pressure loads.

copy all that.

my 'hot' 38-55 loads are around 1850-1900fps max. with a 255 cast coated so pretty hard cast..

sounds good though, good to hear a few have em
