260 Rem

I am leaning toward 260 Rem as a target rifle with a 1.8 twist and 28 inch barrel.Has anyone built or had on made ?

Hi Duncan
I have 2 .260 Rems
1 X Sako 85 Varmint.
1 X Barnard action Krieger 32 inch 1:8 twist barrel in .260 AI.
I think the 260 Rem is great cartridge.
I shoot 120 Gn Nosler ballistic tips over 46 Gns of 2209 in the Sako. & 140 Gn Hornady ELDs over 47.3 Gns of 2213SC. in the F class.

Thank you so much.My mind is set now.I will start seeing how to get brass etc and dies.I am assuming the recoil is quite mild and this chambering is good out to 900 yards.Did you build the rifle here in the West and where do you do F/Class

Rifle was built here in WA, with the current load it's good for 900 yards mv2950 recoil is very mild. Shoot in the Midwest so wind is a factor 6.5 beats a .308 in drift. Some guys run 6.5 Creedmor. Brass is easy I use Lapua fireform at the shorter ranges and neck size only. Still developing settled on the particular load for velocity, playing with a barrel tuner for group size.

Mid west being Geraldton.Sounds like you are a lot further down the development path than I am.My mate has a new Ruger .243 so my first step is to test out some target ammo in .243.I will rechamber my Howa .243 to 260 Rem by fitting a new barrel and I will fit a custom stock
