Favorite ammunition brand.

So as we all know different brands make different calibers, but sometimes we have those favorite brands that seem to shoot straight every time.

OSA is my favorite, but being using Hornady lately and it its pretty bloody good out of my guns, and use CCI in rimfire.

Rimfire - cci hands down, alot of variety but if im target shooting it's rws for my particular rifles

Centrefire varies per caliber, but i go between s&b,hornady, ppu and OSA on the vary rare occasion i find some

With 12g it doesn't matter so much but i like the winchester slugs for some reason or another, maybe just because they're red lol clay loads are whatevers on special for a slab at the time

CCI stingers in .22LR.
Highland in .222 as I like the brass and my .222 is same POI as their load.I think it is PPU
I have a lot off brass in.243 so will not need factory again and I will die of old age before I use up the ammo for the 7mm Rem Mag.It came with 3 packets of factory
.Remington corelokt 175gn
.Winchester failsafe 175gn
.Sellier & Bellot, 173 gn
And I have 46 Matchking reloads and 75 100gn hunting rounds
.22 winchester .22hornet .222 .243 7mm rem mag cbc 12g

I am certain that Highland was the importer for PPU.It got a bad rap because it was 2/3 the price but I liked it ,waterproof primers and annealed necks

Highland ammo has ppu headstamps

I like cci for .22

I also like ppu cause they make milsurp stuff and it's good brass to reload.

Buffalo river/OSA in .223, shoots like a laser and it took me a ton of load development to equal it in hand loads.

Loaded ammo or components. Either way I use Hornady the most.

PPU, but only because of cheap brass. DIY here.

PPU for all around value in a centrefire, Norma used to be high on the list, but has been overtaken by RWS. For Rf, RWS works best in all my Military Trainers, except the Cooey 75 which really loves the Highland Target. Cheers.

I would have to say Winchester and PPU factory ammo is great.OSA for 223 amazing.
Remington ammo of late seems to have no quality control, even got a packet
of 3006s with 2 bullets in back the front in one box and cannot grp at all at the range.
Federal are ok but Winnie's and ppu are the go if your not reloading.

Favourites in 0.308? I bought some Browning BXCs recently to see how they performed vs usual Federal, they go where they're pointed but for the cost you'd want them to buy you dinner as well.

Also use OSA for 223.

For centre fire, although it's a pinch expensive I've always found Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunting to be accurate.

Have tried a few weights in .243, 7mm and .308 and they've always gone well in all.

Sierra flat-base Pro-Hunters would be my second for centre fire.

For rimfire I did a bit of a write up a while ago on that with my Annie here, viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1051

If we're talking accuracy and value for money, my rifles and my wallet like the following.....

22 lr - Federal American eagle and Winchester superspeed
243 and 308 both like Federal Power-shok with OSA close second, Remington core-lokt go alright too through the 243, haven't tried them through the 308 to be able to comment.
223 - Aussie Outback 55 gr Blitzkings, outstanding accuracy, no need to try anything else at this stage.
30-30 - purchased Remington core-lokt but I'm yet to fire the rifle to comment on accuracy, price was good though.

Plan on trying PPU for each caliber but it always seems to be sold out whenever I go to purchase it.

I've got approximately 4-600 rounds for each of the centre fire cartridges mentioned above, once I've made my way through a good chunk of that and I build up a collection of brass I'll consider reloading.

I'm adding PPU to my list of favourites, tried some 243 - 90 grain through the Lithgow last week, was quite surprised and impressed, it shoots better than any other brand I've tried through that rifle to date, excellent accuracy and well priced.
Will get some for the 308 and 223 and give it a try when I get the chance.

Yep DIY, cheapest and quality.
For the rimfire it is the Win Subsonic along with CCI subs. Then turn that brass into 17 gn rabbit wreckers for the 17 hornet or 40 gn wallaby smashers for the 22 hornet. If feeling lazy, just turn them into 52s for a 223.
They are my favourite because they work and I made them.

CF--can i say my own reloads...?
Just based on the fact that when i have spent 3 nights fully prepping good brass, sized with a nice shoulder bump, thats been freshly wet tumbled & loaded with cotton gloves on...
I sometimes have to get it back out of the ammo box to have another look at it...
Where as the only reason for opening a box of factory for the second time is to shoot it...

22lr--last few years has been CCI for both plinking & bunny ammo...but i always make sure i have a few boxes of win sub hp's on board...& can rely on getting Win anywhere & they've been the reliable go-to for 20yrs prior to cci...
So Win might have been the overall winner if it werent for the fact that i recently tried RWS .22lr sub hp's, & on a windless day at the range & shot a .5" 8 shot group at 100m...!!...the CCI & Win were both on par @ around 1.5" on same day-but cci had less fliers.
So RWS currently stands tall on the podium.
The man who knows everything, doesnt really know everything...he's just stopped learning...
